Obituary

Peacefully on July 4, 2022, our precious wife, mom, grandma and sister, Jane Blyth, went to be with Jesus at the age of 77, at Bethesda Place in Steinbach, MB.

Predeceased by her son Paul Dean, parents Edgar and Genevieve Smock, sisters Lita and Betty Jo and many other loved ones.

Left to cherish Jane’s memory, her husband Vernon of 59 years, son Stephen, daughters Bev (Doug), Kim (Myron), honorary son Will, grandchildren Dalton, Nikki (Brendon), Jessica (Tristan), Shayna (Josh), and Kassidy (Luke) and great grandchildren Keera, Zaden, Emilee, and Kennedy.

Jane was born on September 6, 1944 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was a daughter to Edgar and Genevieve Smock. Jane had 4 sisters, Lita, Betty Jo, Lucy, Judy. She moved to Canada just before her 18th birthday to attend Winnipeg Bible College where she met Vernon. They were married July 23, 1963 in Winnipeg. Vernon and Jane pastored at churches in Saskatchewan and then later on in Deloraine, Manitoba. There Jane did home care till the age of 71 when she retired. In June of 2021 Vernon and Jane moved to Steinbach to be closer to family. They lived at Fernwood for a year until health problems required them to move into Bethesda Place. Jane’s final days on earth were spent here, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. What a blessing.

A livestreamed celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Sunday, July 10th at 1:30 at Crossings Funeral Care in Steinbach.
