Obituary

Our precious mom, grandma, aunt, sister and friend, Nela Wiebe, peacefully went to be with her Saviour on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the age of 76 years, with her “golden girl”, (daughter) by her side.

Nela was born on October 15, 1947 to Ben & Mary Penner in Santa Clara, Mexico. She grew up with nine siblings.

Peter & Nela got married on August 22, 1976 at the Sommerfelder church in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua. They had three children born to them in Mexico. Peter and Nela moved to Canada in February of 1980, where they had four more children. They bought a home in Mitchell in 1987 and lived there for 36 years.

Mom was an extremely hard worker and was known for her giving heart. She loved gardening, butchering, tending to her animals, gathering eggs, along with berry picking when they were in season. Almost every time we went to visit her she would talk about gardening or butchering, up until the day before she passed.

Mom had diabetes which was manageable until the last year or two, her health took a turn for the worse. She began to have kidney failure and then also heart failure. She lost her walking and her eye sight. But praise God! Those things have been restored and is made whole again. Because of Jesus Christ, she is healed and can walk and see again!

Down here, our bodies have been weakened by sin-but in Heaven, all that will be behind us, because by his death and resurrection Christ conquered all sin and sickness and death. The bible says that in Heaven Christ “will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” (Philippians 3:21)

Our beloved mom will be greatly missed by many. She is reunited with her husband Peter Wiebe at last, whom she greatly missed.

She leaves behind her seven children, Levi Wiebe, Menno Wiebe, Frank Wiebe, Lawrence Wiebe, Susie Decelles, Henry Wiebe and Tony Wiebe, their spouses and her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7-8 KJV
