Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce Annette Côté, age 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Repos Jolys, St. Pierre, MB., surrounded by her loved ones. Annette is now reunited with her beloved husband Noel in eternal peace.

Mom is survived by her children; Lorraine Duval (Gilbert), John Côté (Valerie Derbowka) and Rachel. Her grandchildren Marc (Shelley), Eric (Kasia), Stéphane (Kaycee), Noah and Dylan. Mom was fortunate to have enjoyed her nine great-grandchildren: Makon, Cohen, Nixon, Scarlett, Maddison, Jaxson, Dawson, Jade and Brooklyn. Mom also leaves to mourn her siblings, Marcel Maynard (Irene), Blanche Ruest (André).

Annette was predeceased by her parents Domina & Clara Maynard, her siblings Cécile, Georges, Denis, Claire, Alice, Henri, Germaine, and Roger. Mom was also predeceased by her in-laws; father-in-law Albert and mother-in-law Valentine, as well as Arthur, Léona, Simone, Adélard, Hélène, Marie and Alice.

Annette was born on April 30, 1940, in St. Malo, her hometown for most of her life where her love of sewing started at a young age. Her talent as a seamstress was evident in the beautiful clothes she made or mended. People know that anything that needed to be mended could come to her and it would be done. Her radiant smile and gentle demeanor endeared her to all who had the privilege of crossing her path. Annette’s home was a place of hospitality and love, where she welcomed friends and strangers alike with open arms and a generous heart.

Mom’s life was a testament to her deep-rooted faith and commitment to serving others. As a devout Catholic she found solace and strength in her spiritual beliefs. Mom was a devoted Filles d’Isabelles for many years helping at funerals with lunches for families. After selling her home and moving to the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo she dedicated her time helping in the canteen, driving others to doctor’s appointments, and working at Village Connection in St. Pierre bringing home clothes to be mended to sell.

Annette’s legacy of love and service will be carried on by her children, Lorraine, John and Rachel. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, cradled in the arms of her Savior.

We would love to give our thanks to the wonderful staff at Repos Jolys in St. Pierre for the wonderful care given to our mom. The compassionate care given to mom and us during this trying time has not gone unnoticed.

The mass will be held in honor of Annette’s life on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, prayers at 10:30 a.m., service at 11:00 a.m., at St. Malo Catholic Church, St. Malo, MB.
