Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our son, brother, uncle and friend Eugene Clifford Sarrasin, also known as “Coffee Bean”, on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the the Repos Joly Care Home in St Pierre-Jolys, Manitoba.

Gene was predeceased by his father Wilfred, sister Karen Gautron and brother-in-law Gerald Gautron.

Gene will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Helen; brothers Ronald (Brenda), Dave (Susie); nephews Kevin (Shian) Gautron, Chris Sarrasin, Leo (Dawn) Gautron; nieces Melissa (Moe) Gosselin, BreeAnne (Ian) Tait, Sherry Bell (Mike), Lori (Shawn) Baldwin, as well as extended family and friends.

Gene would have been considered a jack of all trades. His mechanical skills and meticulous attention to detail were evident in everything he did. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. However, they first had to hear a verbal reprimand on why they let their vehicle or implement get to that point in the first place. He would have repaired and polished looking like new in no time. Gene was always ready for a cup of coffee and conversation, having a story to go along with the ones just told. Gene loved to read, and the National Geographic magazine was his favorite. His collection was meticulously bundled and stored by month, year and date. He loved his days traveling to Austin Threshermen’s Reunion and the Rollag Steam and Threshermen’s Reunion with his friends. On the off chance that he went alone, he would come back having made another friend along the way. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Repos Joly for exceptional care and compassion shown during his stay.

Cremation will take place and a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest in the Emerson Cemetery.
