Christopher Frederickson (affectionately known as Fred), age 44, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, August 12, 2025, with the love of his family surrounding him.
Chris will be deeply missed by his wife of 17 years, Jamie; his two children, Bailey and Peyton; his mother, Tammy; siblings Alesha (James) and Cassandra (Zachary); father-in-law, Bill; mother-in-law, Carol; brother-in-law, Cory; and numerous other family members and friends. Chris was predeceased by his father, Ronald Frederickson.
We choose to remember Chris not for the cancer that ultimately claimed his life, but for the bold and courageous way he lived it. He was a devoted husband, father, son, sibling, and friend. Some of his favourite memories included skating with his kids, going to the lake, being around the fire, playing video games, listening to music, performing in his band, hot tub parties with friends, golfing, and watching sports. He also loved going out for weekly meals and ice cream with his family.
Chris was a natural leader and mentor. He approached his role as a manager with dedication and took great pride in watching his team grow and succeed. He also spoke fondly of coaching baseball and hockey, and found deep fulfillment playing in his community’s adult hockey league – a meaningful return to a challenge he first embraced in childhood.
Chris embraced life, finding joy and inspiring us all with his humour and spirit of hope. He always made sure we were taken care of and found ways to make us laugh. We will never forget him, and his spirit will continue to live on.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Crossings Funeral Care, 12-40 North Gate Drive, Steinbach, MB.
Thank you to all the staff at CancerCare Manitoba, Health Sciences Centre, and Southern Health Palliative Care for their care and compassion.
