Obituary

Alvira was born on March 5, 1973 to parents Peter and Aganetha Hildebrand in Bergthal Paraguay; she lived to be 52 years, 5 months and 18 days old, and passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:14 p.m. at Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada.

By the Confession of her faith, she was baptized on May 26, 1996, in Bergthal, Paraguay.

Alvira got married to the love of her life; Wilhelm Friesen on July 22 of 1999; and they were married a total of 26 years, 1 month and 1 day.

Alvira leaves behind a grieving husband; Wilhelm, and her 6 children and their families; Haidi (Arthur), Patricia (Peter), Erika, Angelika, Melissa and Jorden; and 2 grandchildren, Abigail and Lincoln.

She is also survived by her father, three brothers, three sisters, and their families.

She was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, her mother, and one sister.

Alvira lived a beautiful life with her family. She was a stay-at-home mother and wife. She truly knew how to make a house feel like a home and was extremely hard working. Her favorite place to be was anywhere outside; whether it was gardening, tending to her flowers or some special project with her husband. Alvira felt truly blessed to have gotten the chance to be an Oma, she loved all the precious time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.

In September of 2021 she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer and was put on a treatment plan which included a strict protocol of medications, countless doctors appointments, and two rounds of radiation. She was hospitalized for the first time back on April 16, 2025, and was able to go home a few weeks later on April 29, 2025. In July her body started to shut down and she was then hospitalized again on July 18 but this time she would not return to her earthly home and instead went to her eternal home on August 23, 2025.

Through all of her suffering, she walked with grace and strength with Jesus at her side; she had so much hope and now we hope to meet her again in Heaven one day.

A viewing and devotional will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The funeral service for Alvira will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Reinland Mennonite Church, 29087 216 Pr, Grunthal, MB. Interment will follow at Reinland Mennonite Church Cemetery, Grunthal, MB.
