It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother, son, grandson, cousin, and friend on August 30, 2025, at the age of 27.
Storm Crosse Cinder Elijah Chaskey Kehler was born on July 25th, 1998, to Paul Chaskey and Peggy Campbell. At the age of one, Storm went to live with his forever parents, Friedhelm and Coralee Kehler, whom he lived with until his passing. He leaves behind to grieve his parents, his sister Brooklyn Auch (Cody), brother Skylar Kehler (Jenna Zador), his maternal grandparents, Ken and Leona Goertzen; paternal grandparents, Abram and Lisa Kehler; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is predeceased by his brother Jordan Kehler, along with many biological siblings.
Storm had a love for the outdoors, right from a little boy. He could often be found hunting, fishing, or quadding around his childhood home. If he wasn’t out doing one of these things, he was probably talking about them. Some of his favorite memories included fishing with his dad, uncle Gord, uncle Curt, and grandpa Ken. He also spent many summers dirt-biking with his brother Skylar. He spent every chance he could outside and in the bush. Everyone always told us, if they got stuck in the bush, they would want Storm to be with them, you just have to be okay with eating squirrel. He could hunt just about any animal, and knew what plants were safe to eat.
As a child, him and siblings could often be found playing in their pool in summer, going can- picking in the ditches with his parents, playing barbies with sister, even though he may not have wanted to, or building forts in the bush.
Storm also had a love for watching hockey, particularly with his grandpa Ken. The two of them could be found yelling at the TV in their basement when the Winnipeg Jets were playing. He would count down the minutes until the hockey arena in Blumenort opened so he could play with his friends. One of his life goals was to be an NHL player.
Storm had a few jobs throughout his adult life, from working in a chicken barn, to working with his uncle at a hog barn. While Storm often thought he knew better than his bosses, and this got him into trouble from time to time, he was undeniably hardworking. He was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends wherever he was needed. He was incredibly strong; he could lift just about anything and was always there when something needed to be moved. His name was not Storm at work, it was Strong.
Storm is also remembered for being a prankster. He loved trying to scare people by hiding behind doors or just trying to make people laugh. His laugh was the best, it could be heard across the room. He may have been a big guy, but he had a little boy giggle. He was also remembered for having the biggest, gentlest heart. Whenever someone was feeling down, he always tried to cheer you up and tell you a funny story.
Storm, we love you. You will always be remembered for your strength, kindness, humour and love. We will always remember you and your gentle spirit. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
