Violet Brown passed away from this earth peacefully at Bethesda Regional Health Centre on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the age of 71, with family by her side.
Vi was the 15th of 16 children, raised on the farm in the New Bothwell area.
After Vi finished high school, she began her years of working at Derksen Printers.
Vi was married to Garry Brown in 1973, and together they had 3 children. Kirby and Gemma, Stacy and Kelly, Chad and Cynthia. Vi and Garry were privileged to be called Grammie and Papa to 9 grandchildren – Braydon and Annalicia, Lexi and Curtis, Taran and Jaida, Kyana, Kyler, Cazden and Sophie, Anika, Layla, Olivia. Vi got to meet and fall in love with one great-granddaughter – Alani – as well. Vi’s family was her greatest accomplishment on this earth, and she lit up when her family was around her.
Vi’s loves, aside from faith and family, were reading a good book, gardening and homemaking, and especially quilting and sewing.
Vi had an incredible gift of hospitality. She loved serving and giving to others in all walks of life. She hosted many people in her home, always feeding them delicious homemade treats, volunteered in many different places, and always had a very active social life.
A special thank you to the many caregivers that Vi had throughout this journey, from CancerCare, to Winnipeg oncologists, to Bethesda Hospital, and palliative care. Mom felt immensely loved, supported, and cared for by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, 3:00 PM at Bentwood Hall, located off HWY 52 at 41 Sunrise Lane. True to Vi’s warm hospitality, a meal and reception will follow the celebration.
