Chantal Catellier, beloved daughter of Jacques and Irene, was born on March 12, 1974, and passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, surrounded by family, friends, and love. She was a proud and devoted mom to Janique, Sylvie, and Miguel Van Den Driessche, whom she shared with their father Remi Van Den Driessche. She was also a cherished sister to Joanne (Alain), Andrée (Alain), Claudelle (Dan), a caring aunt, niece, loyal friend to hundreds, and a loving companion to Al Goertzen.
Although cancer may have taken her body, her spirit remained undefeated. Chantal faced every challenge with courage, wit, and that unmistakable sparkle in her eye that told you she was already one step ahead.
Chantal threw herself wholeheartedly into everything she did – student athlete, social worker, counsellor, and camping expert (self-proclaimed, but well-earned). Fiercely independent and strong-willed, she lived life on her own terms, guided by strength, instinct, and an unshakable sense of self – yet her heart was always open to others.
To know Chantal was to be welcomed into her circle of laughter, honesty, and the occasional dose of tough love – always delivered with that signature grin. She reminded us that life is meant to be lived fully, that family and friendship matter most, and that a good laugh can heal just about anything.
Her legacy lives on in every life she touched – in the laughter she shared, the wisdom she offered, and the strength she showed us all.
A Celebration of Chantal’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, where stories will be shared, memories celebrated, and laughter encouraged. Interment at St. Malo Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Heaven gained a force of nature, and the rest of us gained a lifetime of love, laughter, and lessons from a woman who truly knew how to live.
