Irene also leaves her siblings Alvin Neustaedter, (Phyllis Neustaedter), Irmgard (Robert) Neufeld and Waldo (Bonnie) Neustaedter.
She was predeceased by her parents Abram and Lena Neustaedter, her brother Wiegand (Jim), and sister-in-law Eleanor.
Irene spent the majority of her life in her birth town of Steinbach, with just over 20 years living in Winnipeg. She graduated from nurses’ training at St. Boniface in Winnipeg in 1960, married shortly after, and then started a family. She returned to full-time nursing in the late 1970s at the Bethesda Hospital, becoming the night shift supervisor. In the late 1990’s she became the Director of Nursing at Donwood Manor in Winnipeg from where she retired.
There were two things Irene was very committed to and those are what filled her time and energy: God and people. She loved her family and was a committed, loving mom, grandma and sister. She loved her people fiercely and we all knew it. Most importantly, Irene was a lover of Jesus. Her passion for God, devotion to His Word and to prayer dominated her life. Most every conversation Irene had quickly turned to Jesus, His goodness, power and Salvation. Her church family, at Southland Church, was very important to her and she often thanked God that He brought her to that body of believers.
Thank you to the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and health care aides at Bethesda for the kind and generous care of our precious mom and grandma. We are so grateful.
The Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Southland Church, Steinbach, MB.
