Obituary

It is with broken hearts that my children and I have to announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Mary died in my arms surrounded by her children.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Cornelious and Maria Thiessen, sister Neta, sister Helen, sister Tina and infant sister Mary. Also, many in laws.

Mary was born on July 16, 1956 in Altona, MB.

In 1969 the Thiessen family moved to South America, Bolivia and the Nickel family followed three years later where she and I met. I had to go to Bolivia to find her.

After three years of dating, I finally managed to persuade her to marry me. She gave me her hand on July 24, 1975. We were married for 50 years and several months. We were blessed with three daughters and seven grandchildren.

Mary was baptized upon the confession of her Faith in 1974. Left to mourn this woman who had a huge impact on our lives are Husband Bill, Daughter Mary and Marcel Heese, Daughter Cathy and Ernie Teichroeb, Daughter Becky and Austin Plett, Grandchildren Amber Heese, Tyler Heese, Lucas Teichroeb, Ivannia Teicroeb, Amaya Teichroeb, Benjamin Plett, and Eloise Plett.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at New Bothwell Sommerfeld Mennonite Church, New Bothwell, MB.
