Betty was born and raised in Dominion City, Manitoba, Betty came from a large family, where being one of the older sisters meant caring and supporting the family. At a very young age she learned the value of family and the importance of taking care of each other. On October 22, 1953 she married the love of her life Alfred Landry from Aubigny MB, who forever would be known to him as “Lover”. They spent the next 62 years building a life together raising four children while working the mixed farming operation with cattle, hogs and poultry.
Mom was a wonderful woman who loved cooking, gardening and was a crossword wizard. She was kind and loving to everyone she met. She baked for her family, friend’s neighbors and the Morris legion Women’s Auxiliary for many years as an active member, including being the Secretary/Treasurer. Mom also was local news reporter writing the Aubigny News section for the Scratching River Post, and the Carillon News.
Mom wore many hats and told stories of her youth of an enjoying life as a baseball player, telephone operator, lamp builder and a health care aide. She loved to travel and had been to Fiji and New Zealand, spending days on her sisters’ boat. She also had several trips British Columbia, New Brunswick, and Quebec to see family.
Her biggest joy was her family and she would shower them with love and her amazing cooking!
We will miss your sweet smile, twinkly eyes and warm hugs. We are so thankful to have had you for a long beautiful life.
