Obituary

Shirley Petterson, age 84, of Lac du Bonnet, MB, passed away peacefully amongst her loved ones on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Heritage Life Personal Care Home in Niverville, MB.

She is lovingly remembered by her niece Erin Reimer (Calin) and their children Anna and Owen.

She was predeceased by her husband Leonard, and son Darin Petterson, her mother Karin (Katie) Melquist, her sister Diane Doern, and many cousins.

Despite great losses, Shirley lived her later years with remarkable spirit. She surrounded herself with the animals she loved – her birds, her cat Bandit, and her loyal dog Nikki. She kept herself active with daily walks, dancing, and visits with friends from the Burgoyne Station condo community.

Shirley was known for her Swedish roots, her sharp sense of humour, and her strong work ethic. She enjoyed a long career at Dancyt’s Fine Foods, a place she always spoke highly of and remembered with great fondness.

A private family burial will take place in the summer of 2026 in Lac du Bonnet, where she will be laid to rest with Leonard and Darin.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Heritage Life Personal Care Home for their exceptional care, compassion, and companionship over the past two years.
