Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Laurie Chatel on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Villa Youville, Ste. Anne, MB.

She leaves to mourn her passing daughter Noella, son Ian (Stephanie), grandchildren Aimée (Stewart), Renée (Onani), Michéal (Alicia), Ryan, Brenda (Adam), great-grandchildren Jay-Dee, Dalitso, Yamiko, Kamille, Ariana, Rya, Remi, Taylor, Vanessa, Layne and Beau.

She was predeceased by her husband Raymond (2011), parents Emily (2000) and Laurent (1985), brothers Armand (2024), Alex (2019), Lawrence (2010), Frank (2017) and sister Beverly (1958).

She is survived by siblings; Stella, Marcien, Arlene, Clarence (Lynn), Alvin (Leslie), Ila (Joe) and Garry as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, near and far.

Mom spent most of her life in Woodridge where she married Dad on August 17, 1957 and raised her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. There was always tea or coffee ready for all visitors, and if you were lucky maybe some of her delicious apple danish square. She was a skilled seamstress, and many called upon her for their sewing needs. Mom loved the company of dogs, whether if be her own or pet sitting for family and friends.

Following a short time in Steinbach, Mom moved in May of 2021 to La Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, until the time of her passing.

We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at the Villa for their exceptional care and companionship provided to Mom in her final years.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Mom your beautiful soul will never be forgotten, just remembered with great love!
