Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Jim Funk, on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the age of 75.

Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life Judith (Giesbrecht) of 53 years; his daughters: Brenda Hebert (Leon), Barbara Voth (Peter) and son Richard Funk. He will also be missed by his grandchildren: Nicholas (Shannon), Stefan, Dylan, Ryann, Mason, Hayley, Juliet and great-grandchildren: Ashton, Triston, and Elijah. Jim will also be remembered by his surviving three sisters and three brothers: Agatha (Peter), Katherine (Otto), Susan (Gary), Bill, Herman (Helen), and David (Marlene).

He was predeceased by his parents Abram and Agatha, brothers Abe, John, Jacob, Corneilus, Peter, and Henry.

Jim was born in the R.M. of DeSalaberry District, MB on August 2, 1943. He met Judy in April of 1964, and the two were married February 12, 1965. Jim accepted Christ and was baptized upon confession of his faith as a young adult.

Dad was an accomplished handyman and consistently demonstrated his ability to fix what was broken. He was always willing to lend a hand. His hard work and caring nature will forever be a legacy.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB with interment to follow at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB. Viewing to be held at the chapel prior to the service.

Dad really wanted this because of how well they cared for mom.
