Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maurice T. Melnyk on the morning of Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, MB., at the age of 75.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lina Melnyk, children: Charlene (Dan) Manaigre, Maurice (Rebecca) Melnyk, Christa (Paul) Asmundson, and Corrie (Yvan) Gagnon; grandchildren: Troy Gagnon, Wade Melnyk, Taylor Gagnon, Katrina Melnyk, Shaelyn Manaigre, Owen Manaigre, Gunnar Asmundson, Axel Asmundson, and Magnus Asmundson; and one great-grandchild, Aurora Gagnon.

He was predeceased by his parents, one sister, and five brothers-in-law.

Dad loved farming, driving, and socializing. He was in dairy farming for 24 years and drove school bus for 33 years. Dad made many friends at dances and coffee shops in his travels.

We will miss him dearly.

A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with the interment to follow at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Sarto, MB.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethesda Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
