Obituary

Franz Felnhofer, 83, of Steinbach, formerly of Austria, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, Manitoba.

He is survived by his children: Christine (Manfred), Franz (Brigitta), Maria (Reinhold), Roswitha (Johann) and Reinhard; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister Christiane; niece Sylvia, and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Maria, brother Herbert, and grandchild Harald.

Franz was born on September 21, 1934 in Persenbeug, Austria to Franz and Theresia Felnhofer and he was raised on their farm. He married Maria, and together they began farming in Steinakirchen, Austria.

Unfortunately, he lost his wife to a tragic car accident in 1978. In 1984, he moved to La Broquerie with his son Franz, Franz’s family, and Reinhard, while his daughters remained in Austria. He farmed in La Broquerie until retiring and moving to his home in Steinbach, which he shared with Reinhard.

Franz enjoyed farming, reading, politics, folk and classical music, hiking, nature and traveling.

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date in Austria.
