Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Anne (Reimer) Krentz on Friday, May 16, 2025, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB., after a courageous battle with cancer and other complications. She was 76 years old.

Anne was born on June 10, 1948, in Grunthal, Manitoba, to Peter & Tina Bergen. She was one of six sisters and is survived by Tina (Richard), Agatha (Abe), and predeceased by her sisters Margaret (2015), Mary (1978), and Linda (1956). Anne was especially close to her sisters, sharing a deep bond, and unwavering support for one another.

Anne lived a life filled with love, laughter, joy, and a deep devotion to her family. She married her first love, Ernie Reimer, on August 13, 1966, and together they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Pam (Art), Stef (Dan), and Dallas (Laura). She was very proud of her grandchildren – Chenise (Derek), Brenden (Sarah), Desiree, Brett (Tiffani), and Ada – as well as two greatgrandchildren, Cohen and Henley. Anne also held a deep love and connection to her first husband Ernie’s family, and she remained close to his siblings throughout her life. She also leaves behind many treasured nieces and nephews who brought her great joy over the years. Family was everything to Anne, and she gave of herself completely.

Anne’s husband Ernie passed in 1998. Anne found joy again when she married Raymond Krentz on June 18, 2022, and in doing so, inherited a second loving family. Raymond brought into her life three children – Myron (Carol), Sheri, Barb (Craig), and a whole new circle of grandchildren, all of whom she loved with her signature warmth.

Anne was known for many things: her sharp wit, her honesty, her creative home remedies, and her legendary Mennonite cooking. Nobody left Anne’s hungry. She noticed everything, cared about everyone, and always showed her love. Anne’s connection to nature was shown by her love for animals, pets, and gardening.

Anne was a prominent influence in the community, and built her own successful business, Anne’s driving school. Anne’s ability to exhibit calm, patience, and support, helped her students succeed, and created lifetime bonds in the community. Anne was also the Coordinator for MPI’s Driver Education Program and had the privilege of teaching young students how to be safe and responsible on our roads.

She raised her children on a family farm near Friedensfeld, MB., while Ernie worked as a long-haul truck driver. Anne was very dedicated to providing the best life she could for her family. She did it with unwavering love, strength, and caring.

Anne was devout to her faith and spent many years attending Southland Church in Steinbach.

Anne touched countless lives with her warmth, generosity, humor, and wisdom. We will miss her deeply, laugh at her stories for generations, and carry her voice in our hearts always.

A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, Manitoba.
