Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Rick Hildebrand, peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at the age of 71.

Rick is survived by his wife Susan and their two daughters, Samantha (Kyle) Wattam and Allison (Justin) Barsewsky; 4 grandchildren – Sawyer, Lochlan, Jase and Blake; Brother Ken (Eda); In-laws – Bill and Terry Howie, Rick (Sharon) Leclair, Deb (David) Shnider, Ken (Carol) Craig and many nieces and nephews.

Rick was predeceased by his mom Agatha Hildebrand (Doell), sister Ruth Hildebrand and sister-in-law Darlene Craig (Howie).

Rick loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was so proud of his girls, always had creative ideas on how to entertain his grandchildren and still cherished his wife after almost 50 years of being together.

Rick never stood still for long. He was a man of many hobbies and a jack of all trades, always building something, tinkering in the garage and jimmy-rigging to “modify” his inventions. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Rick enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, quadding, woodworking, pickleball, biking and playing cards. He had a passion for music and was often the DJ, entertaining many with his extensive playlist. Rick loved spending time with his boys, Kyle and Justin, listening and singing to guitar around a “big” bonfire.

A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 12th, 2025 (come and go between 7:00 – 10:00 pm) at the beer gardens in the Morris Stampede Grounds. An open mic will be available to share stories.

The family wishes to thank the many doctors involved in Rick’s care over the past year. A special thank you to Marnie for making his final journey a little easier. To all his many good friends who came in person, phoned or messaged in the last few weeks – Thank you!! Each of you were special to him and he appreciated and enjoyed your visits and messages.
