Obituary

Erdman (Ed) Giesbrecht, of Steinbach, Manitoba, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

He was born in Loma Plata, Paraguay February 3, 1942 to Jacob and Helena Giesbrecht. He lived much of his adult life in Leaf Rapids, Manitoba and Edson, Alberta, before finally settling in Steinbach, Manitoba.

Ed was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind and quiet man who enjoyed working with his hands. He worked for many years as a miner in northern Manitoba and Alberta before pursuing his passion as a farmer in Manitoba. Upon retiring from the farm, he moved on to work at Loewen Windows until he was 74 years old. In his spare time, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and keeping busy with small jobs around his home and garden.

Ed was extremely loving and proud of his wife and two children and their families. He is survived by his wife Erna, his daughter Veronica, his son-in-law Ron, his son Victor, his daughter-in-law Rosa. But he was most proud of his granddaughters Alex, Kate, Victoria and Michaela. He is also survived by nine brothers, five sisters and their families.

Ed touched the lives of many people, and he will be loved and missed by all of us.

Viewing will be held Monday, June 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a devotional at 7:30 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with interment at Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.
