Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Diane Schalla, age 78, on the morning of Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Bev is survived by her two daughters, Theresa Eveleigh and Christine Ducharme; her six grandchildren, Natasha Vejprava, Tan Pham, Samantha Eveleigh, Troy Pham, Jessica Eveleigh, and Brandon Pham, along with their spouses; her great-grandchildren, Jay-Jay, Liliana, and one on the way; her brother, Clifford (Anne) Schalla; as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Lilian Schalla, and her siblings, Wilbert (Evelyn) Schalla, Gordon Schalla, Sylvia Rempel, Alice (Erwin) Meyers, Janet Harder, and Jacqueline Pandey.

Born on September 16, 1947, in Steinbach, Manitoba, Bev settled in Winnipeg, where she worked and raised her family. She was a devoted and loving mother, gran nan, sister, aunt, friend, and caregiver. A true matriarch- her family was the greatest love, pride, and joy of her life. Bev was hardworking, quick-witted, and known for her cheeky sense of humor. She was loved by many and will be remembered for her playful spirit, generous nature, and the unconditional love she was capable of.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg for their care and compassion.

The funeral service for Beverly will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. There will be viewing prior to the service.

The interment will take place at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery following the reception.
