It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Perun on Wednesday April 15, 2026 at the Niverville Heritage Centre at the age of 77. She is lovingly remember by her husband Morris of 56 years and three daughters Sheila (Les), Angela (Shane), Christine (Rob), four grandchildren Alycia (Dawson) Stephen (Julia) Kadynce and Makynli and three step grandsons Dylan (Ashtyn) Mason and Carson, sister Sophie Bodz, three nephews Darren (Val), Danny (Brenda), Dwayne (Devony) as well as multiple great nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.
She was predeceased by her mother and father Wasylka and Wasyl Bilon, sister Lena in infancy, mother and father-in-law Yustina and Stephan Perun, and brother-in-law Roman Bodz.
Mom grew up South of Gardenton, in her early years, she enjoyed helping her parents on the family farm with daily chores, cross stitching and visiting nearby friends and neighbors. She attended Lukowce school and completed her education at the Purple Bank School in Gardenton. After finishing school she moved to Winnipeg and starting employment at Paulin Chambers.
In 1966, she met the love of her life Morris at Sophie and Roman’s social. They were married on June 14, 1969 and eventually made their home on Navin Road where they raised their three daughters. Mom later worked at Macleods Hardware store and continued her career at TruServ Warehouse until retiring at the age of 57. She and Morris then moved out to the “funny farm” where mom cherished spending time with her four grandchildren, who were Baba’s pride and joy.
Mom had a deep passion for music and dancing. She loved camping, gardening, being outdoors, going to church and carolling. She always looked forward to playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family will remain in our hearts forever. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the memories we cherish and the values she instilled in each of us.
Her family would like to thank Vita Personal Care home and Niverville Heritage centre for treating her with dignity and grace. Thank you to all of the family and friends for all of your support.
Families are forever “Vichnaya Pamyat”
