It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Karin Suderman on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 80.
She is lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Kelly (Shawn) Neumann; Heather (Greg) Wiens; and Tiffany (David) Loewen; and her 12 grandchildren: Hannah, Aaron (Amalia), Sofia, Tomas, Indra, Bethany, Cayden, Zackary, Carson, Benjamin, Ethan, and Wesley. She will also be remembered by her sisters, Ingrid and Wili, and her brother Gerald (Ellen).
Karin was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert, and her grandson, Nathan.
Karin Anna Margaret Suderman (née Neufeld) was born in Abbotsford, BC, on January 18, 1946. She was the second daughter of William and Hildegard Neufeld – younger sister to Ingrid and older sister to Wili and Gerald. Karin was blessed with a loving home rooted in faith, family, and community. She spent her childhood years in Abbotsford and graduated from Mennonite Educational Institute in 1964.
Karin’s faith was quiet but steadfast throughout her life. She was baptized by her father in 1961 and remained a lifelong member of the Mennonite Brethren church. Over the years, she faithfully served in a variety of roles within the churches she attended.
In 1965, Karin attended Mennonite Brethren Bible College in Winnipeg, where she met her beloved husband, Herb. They were married on May 16, 1968, and eventually made their home in North Kildonan on Edelweiss Crescent, where they raised their three daughters: Kelly (1972), Heather (1976), and Tiffany (1980). In retirement, Karin and Herb moved to Steinbach, where Herb received personal care due to advanced Parkinson’s disease. Herb sadly passed away in 2020. Karin continued to live in Steinbach, close to Tiffany and her family.
Karin had a deep passion for creative pursuits. She loved to draw, sew, garden, cook and bake, decorate, and create digital photo books. She especially loved caring for her family and cherished time spent with her 12 grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Karin will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her gentle kindness and warmth will remain in our hearts forever. Her example of sacrificial love and generosity will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” ~ Psalm 121:1-2
