Obituary

Jacob (Jake) Adrian, passed away peacefully, at the age 82, on July 4, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on May 19,1935 at Stolz Plateau, Santa Catharina, Brazil to Heinrich and Catharina (Klassen) Adrian. In 1947 the family immigrated to Canada and settled in the Ekron School District, east of Steinbach.

After accepting Christ as his personal Saviour and Lord, Jake was baptized upon confession of faith on May 24,1953 at the Steinbach Mennonite Church. On June 29,1958, he married the love of his life Hildegard Warkentin. They made their home here in Steinbach and were blessed with two daughters and two sons. Jake was employed most of his working years at South East Transfer, now known as Big Freight. Jake delighted in his five granddaughters and often wished he would have been able to spend more time with the three living in Northern British Columbia. He cherished his relationship with his Lord and Saviour, who was his source of strength right to the end.

He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by: his wife Hildegard of 59 years; his daughters: Lenore Goertzen (Tom), and Rose Unruh (Aaron) both of British Columbia; sons: Rudy (Xenia) Adrian and Edwin (Sheila) Adrian both of Steinbach; the granddaughters: Melissa Radons (Sam), Bethany and Rebecca Goertzen, Meagan and Kristen Adrian, and great-grandchildren: Damien and Mariah Radons. He is also survived by his sisters: Tina Toews (Jake), Margaret Unrau, Helen Hicks (Bob) and his sister-in-law Laura and brother-in-law Lou Lehman, also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by: his parents; brother Henry; sister Elsie and two brothers in infancy.

The family wishes to thank the doctors Dr. A. Gillette, Dr. John L. Rabson and the rest of the medical staff, for their exceptional care.

The funeral service for Jacob will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with viewing prior to the service. The interment will follow at the Heritage Cemetery, Steinbach, MB.

Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Jacob may be made, in lieu of flower, to the Bethesda Foundation or to St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation.
