Renovations to expand City Hall in Steinbach are well underway, including the completion of temporary office space for the City’s Engineering, Planning and Zoning staff. The new space consists of a 1500 square foot temporary office on the north side of City Hall where staff will continue to service the needs of residents.
“Once we saw the construction schedule, we knew we wanted to keep impacts minimal for residents and visitors to City Hall,” said Troy Warkentin, City Manager. “It was important to keep staff displaced by the construction close by to maintain key working relationships, processes and service levels.”
Staff are making the transition to the new building this week and expect to be open for business as usual in the new space right away. In addition to office space, the temporary building is equipped with a washroom and is fully accessible.
“What’s great about the building is its cost effective, allows us to efficiently serve residents, fulfills the need for temporary office space and once complete, the builder will move it off City Hall property and it will become a home for someone,” said Warkentin.
The targeted completion date for the City Hall expansion is March 2017.
