Recently, my colleague Cathy Cox, Minister of Sustainable Development proclaimed July 17th to 23rd Drowning Prevention Week.

From July 28th to August 13th, Manitoba will host the Canada Summer Games for their 50th anniversary and Canada’s 150th birthday.

This month our government took a big step in helping Manitoba families become homeowners following a $1-million investment in affordable home ownership projects.

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of visiting Friesen Drillers Ltd. to present a letter on behalf of Premier Brian Pallister, in recognition of Friesen Driller’s 125 years of business.

Recently at the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba’s River Point Centre in Winnipeg I was pleased to announce that Manitobans recovering from opioid addictions will receive new support; the addition of suboxone to the Manitoba Pharmacare Program.

Last Wednesday at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, I had the opportunity to announce the creation of an organization called Shared Health Services Manitoba.

To the 2017 graduates, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your graduation.

This year our country celebrates its 150th birthday and it is incredible how much Steinbach and its surrounding area has changed during that time.

In 2015 the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that Canadians could access a medical assisted death with the help of a physician.

I was pleased to announce last week our government awarded a contract to Virgo Planning and Evaluation Incorporated to assist the province in developing a provincial mental health and addictions strategy, to support long-term health and better quality of life for Manitobans.
