The current five-day COVID-19 test positivity rate is 9.7 per cent provincially and 9.2 per cent in Winnipeg. As of 9:30am on June 16, 2021, 144 new cases of the virus have been identified. However, one case was removed due to a data correction. This brings the net-new number of cases today to 143 and the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 54,739.

Today, people who received their first dose on or before May 14 can book a second-dose appointment. Tomorrow, this will expand at 11:45 am to include people who received their first dose on or before May 18. Manitobans are strongly reminded to only book their appointment based on the date of their first dose or other provincial criteria.

A total of 96 warnings and 108 tickets were issued for the week of June 7 to 13 including 95 $1,296 tickets to individuals, seven $298 tickets to individuals for failure to wear a mask in indoor public places and  two $5,000 tickets to businesses.

In an effort to increase the diversion of disposable masks from landfills, the province has launched an initiative with international recycling operation TerraCycle to recycle disposable masks from 15 locations at Manitoba provincial parks.

VIDO-InterVac is expanding the human clinical trials of its new COVID-19 vaccine beyond Canada to other countries. The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization, VIDO-InterVac, received approval from Health Canada just before Christmas to begin human clinical trials of its new COVID-19 vaccine.

Eligibility for second doses has been expanded to include individuals who received their first dose on or before May 10. Manitobans are strongly reminded that only those eligible to book appointments based on the date of their first dose or other provincial criteria should book second-dose appointments at this time.

Red River Co-op has announced that the Harry J. Enns Wetland Discovery Centre at Oak Hammock Marsh near Stonewall was selected to receive a $25,000 Co-op Community Spaces donation. The donation will be used towards the creation of pollinator gardens and improvements to the green roof on the Discovery Centre.

Manitoba Agriculture and Resource Development advises that due to dry conditions in parts of the province over the past few years, livestock producers will temporarily be allowed to cut hay on Crown lands not normally designated for agricultural use.
