Steinbach MLA and Justice Minister Kelvin Goertzen announced that the Manitoba government is investing an additional $4.3 million in capital funding for the 48-unit affordable housing project being developed at the site of the former Fleming School and providing $2 million for the establishment of a state-of-the-art sobering centre, along with $1.5 million in annual operating funding and $4 million for an attached transitional housing facility in Brandon.

Major Crime Services are currently investigating the death of 37-year-old James Vernon Giesbrecht of Brandon, Manitoba. Human remains were identified as those of Giesbrecht’s this past January.

Manitoba Labour, Consumer Protection and Government Services is reminding employers to immediately notify the Workplace Safety and Health Branch if a serious incident occurs after an employer was prosecuted under the Workplace Safety and Health Act and its associated regulations.

Brandon RCMP are reporting that three individuals have recently been arrested and charged in connection to a number of break and enters, as well as an arson, that occurred in the Rural Municipality of Whitehead, Manitoba.

Yorkton RCMP are asking the public for any information into the whereabouts of a missing man from the Minnedosa / Brandon area, 86-year-old William Loewen. RCMP noted that William goes by the name Bill.

The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has concluded its investigation that concerned an allegation that the affected person (AP) was choked and rendered unconscious during an interaction with police in Brandon on January 16, 2021.

The RCMP Manitoba Organized Crime Unit (MOCU) conducted a seven-month investigation, Project DEBRIS, which involved the dismantling of a drug trafficking network that was directly responsible for supplying controlled substances to the Brandon and Western Manitoba area, and had ties to British Columbia.

Four Brandon men are facing numerous charges after being arrested for illegal hunting at a location near Carberry, Manitoba.
