Over the course of the summer, conservation officers have supported the wildfire suppression efforts but have also been involved in multiple situations where enforcement action was required to support the fire and travel restrictions imposed. To date, during this period of extreme fire risk, officers issued a total of 149 charges and 60 warnings under the Wildfires Act.

Due to this spring’s continued dry conditions, the Rural Municipality of Hanover is reinstating their Fire Ban for the entire municipality, effective at 12pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021.

With the arrival of warmer weather, the province reminds Manitobans to be careful with any spring burning activities and to ensure they have the required burn permits from either their local municipalities or the province.
