Henry Funk was called home on Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the age of 71 years old, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB, softly into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father, with his family by his side.
Left to cherish his memory and carry his legacy is his beloved, faithful wife of 52 years, Jessie (Banman); children: Beverley (Mike) Murphy, John (Debbie) Funk, Jennifer (Trevor) Hildebrand, Sylvia (Brian) Oxtoby, Joshua(Rae) Funk; grandchildren: Dustin (Kaylee) Bugera, Dallas Bugera, Denver (Tamara) Bugera, Jesse(Nalleli) Funk, Chris(Stephanie) Funk, Alyssa (Tyrone) Stoesz, Carlee (Colton) Froese, Kirsten Hildebrand, Austin (Kelsey) Weiss, Micheala (Christian) Weiss, Emily & Kacee Funk; and great-grandchildren: Mackynlee & Calder Bugera, Liam Stoesz, Forrest Froese, and Easton Weiss.
Henry was predeceased by his parents Abram and Agatha, brothers Jacob, Abraham, Cornelius, John, Peter and sister-in-law Nettie. He was also predeceased by parents-in-law John and Justina Banman, bother-in-law John, and sisters-in-law Laverne and Carol.
Henry was born in St. Pierre Hospital on August 28, 1947. He met the love of his life, Jessie in 1965 and the two were married on April 2, 1966. Henry accepted Christ and was baptized upon confession of his faith in 1979. He was a man transformed by the love of God.
Henry loved his wife and family unconditionally. He worshipped God with all of his heart. Henry had many struggles and many triumphs throughout his life, and in the end death did not win. Henry ran a good race and finished well. Until we meet again.
The funeral service to celebrate the life of Henry Funk will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with viewing prior to the service. The interment will follow at Mitchell Gospel Church. Refreshments and fellowship to follow at Birchwood Funeral Chapel.
