Obituary

It is impossible to forget someone who gave us so much to remember. Today the world lost a truly unforgettable lady!

Margaret Coolidge Stott (nee Wallace) died peacefully at her home in Niverville, MB, at the age of 98 years. She had many plans for many more tomorrows!

Margaret will be deeply missed by her seven children: Gary (Doris), Elaine (Art Krahn), Louise (Burt Hiebert), Kevin (Marlene), Jeff (Mona), Michael (Ida) and Donald (Laurie); 19 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and their respective spouses. Having said goodbye to far too many friends, it was family she struggled with loosing the most.

Gone ahead of her are her husband of 64 years, Jack, three children: Elizabeth, Jennifer & Raymond; and her special grandson Joey.

In the eight years since being separated from her soulmate, Mom remained steadfast in their shared commitment to community. Her legacy includes, but is not limited to:

  • Membership of the United Church/United Church Women
  • Fundraising for CancerCare Manitoba
  • Creation of the Cenotaph
  • Building of the Silver Courts
  • Chairing of the Niverville Horticultural Society, Niverville Garden Club, Niverville Curling and Community Club
  • Volunteering for Imagine, Remembrance Day ceremonies, Niverville Fair and local fall suppers

Our matriarch led by example and imparted the importance of service. We will forever benefit from her resulting in incredible memory and extensive network.

Her passions were family, friends, farming, travel and sport. Well into her 90’s she could be spotted cycling on a daily basis. Regardless of weather, she completed her four-mile route to bear witness to her growing town and chat with friends and neighbours.

A Stottish style tea party with Mom will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2019, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Niverville United Church, Niverville, MB. All are welcome.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Niverville Community Fellowship Church, Niverville, MB. Reception to follow at Niverville Heritage Centre, Niverville, MB.

Share a memory with a friend, don’t wait until it is only a memory!
