Obituary

It is with much sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother Marjorie Fuchs on Wednesday, March 6, 2019.

Mom was born on February 5, 1940, in Otterburne, MB, to Armand and Victoire Curé. She was the eldest of eight children. Mom attended school locally and eventually married Julien Lambert of St. Malo. Together, they had six children – their pride and joy. Tragically, Julien suffered severe injuries in a logging accident in 1966 and was unable to move back home. Mom was left to raise her six kids, all under the age of 7 at the time of the accident, basically on her own and with the help of her family.

Despite challenges along the way, Marge raised her kids and mothered her much younger siblings as well including Eddy but especially Irene and Mike. She later met Waldo Fuchs and they moved to Winnipeg where she worked at a variety of places including Temro. Once the kids were mostly grown, she and Waldo made their home in Marchand, MB. They married in December of 1995 and stayed in Marchand until Waldo’s passing in 2013.

Mom was an accomplished seamstress and worked for a variety of companies doing what she loved best. There was nothing she could not fix if it involved a sewing machine she was our “go-to” whenever we needed anything sewn or patched. In semi-retirement she enjoyed working at the Marchand store and post office for a brief time, where she got to meet many new friends and neighbours. In 2013, she relocated to the Chalet Malouin in St. Malo to be closer to her kids and grandchildren. We absolutely loved having her close by and she was able to enjoy many happy family moments and occasions! She deeply loved and was so proud of each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In St. Malo, Mom was fortunate to reconnect with her childhood sweetheart Guy Nault, who captured her heart and made her smile once again. The two were inseparable and we are thankful for his companionship with her. Guy made her happier than we had seen her in many years.

Our mom had a loving heart and a giving spirit. Her door was always open to anyone and the coffee was always on. She was always up for a road trip and had fond memories of her girls trip to the East Coast with family. She was a fantastic cook who loved nothing more than making a meal for her big family or her famous chocolate cake. She always had treats for the little ones when they came over. She was fiercely proud of her girls and even more so of her only boy. She took great pride in each and every accomplishment of her children and great-grandchildren. Her heart overflowed with love for us all.

She leaves to mourn her passing her six children: Marielle (Denis) Gauthier, Mariette (Greg Peters) Lambert, Beatrice Dueck, Adeline (Dan Potvin) Lambert, Collette (Ed) Unrau and Victor(Christina) Lambert. She also leaves sixteen grandchildren: Denise (Mitch) Matity, Richmond (Shawna) and Colin Gauthier, Stephanie (Scott) McMaster, Michelle (Cory) Coles, Nicole (Chris) Klassen, Conrad (Nicole) Preteau, Kimberly (George) Wiebe, Jeremy Dueck, Curtis (Ange) Unrau, Jo-Lynn (Aaron) Hudson, Michael (Amy) Unrau, Russel (Brianna) Unrau, Cody (Jessica) Lambert, Cailin (Antoine) Ayotte, and Caycie (Brandon) Lambert. She was a beloved granny to 39 great-grandchildren.

She also leaves to mourn her remaining sisters: Eveline (Fred) Catellier, Reynalde Adams, Yvonne Chubaty, Irene (Ron) Curé; brother Mike Curé, and partner Guy Nault as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mom was predeceased by her first husband, Julien Lambert, parents Armand and Victoire Curé, sister Gisele Burkowski, brother Edward Curé, son-in-law David Dueck, and husband Waldo, as well as numerous other beloved extended family members.

A memorial service in her honour will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation.
