Obituary

Walter Essar was born to John and Lena Essar on April 24, 1944, on their family farm near Foam lake SK.

Walter passed away suddenly on April 21, 2019 while visiting his family in MB.

Walter grew up on the family farm near Foam Lake SK.

At 15 years old, Walter went to work for the Sebulsky family near Sheho, SK. After that, Walter worked for other farmers in the area before going to BC to work for a logging company.

Walter worked very hard to save his money as a young man to be able to buy his first quarter of land.

Walter met the love of his life in 1972 and they joined hands in marriage on October 19, 1974. They enjoyed 44 years together and Walter was a very devoted husband.

They were blessed with four beautiful daughters!

Walter loved people. He enjoyed meeting up with old friends and making new ones. They graciously welcomed many visitors to their farm. Farming was Walter’s life! He worked very hard to provide for his family.

Treasuring fond memories are his wife Shirley, his daughters Sheryl, Lilla, Wanda (Dan) Fetter, and Jennifer (Colin) Craig; grandchildren: Rebecca, Tre, Molly, Enna, Bryson, Carter and Josie; Three brothers – Lawrence (Marilyn), Paul and Morris (Marrianne); three sisters Kay, Jean and Liz; in-laws: Val (Jim), Terri, Janice (Ross), Dale, Holly (Dale), Marcy (Kelly), and Clayton (Joan).

Walter was predeceased by his father, mother, sister Mary, brother Willie, two nephews, a niece and mother and father in law.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Saskatchewan.
