It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jeff Hanna in the early morning hours of May 15, 2021 at the age of 48. Predeceased only by his father Larry Hanna, Jeff is survived by his wife and soulmate Lisa of 28 years and their three sons Jeremy (Taz), Jessie (Maria), and Chaz (Kiana). His presence will be deeply missed by his mother Patricia, sisters Lisa (Greg) and Leslie (Lynette) and brother Ken (Nina). Jeff was also a favourite uncle to his many nieces and nephews, a grandfather many times over and one “hell of a great guy”.
A “jack of all trades, master of most”, Jeff was a hard-working man with many skills. He worked all different kinds of jobs throughout his life, including several years as a school bus driver where his kind and gentle personality really shone through. These were all stepping stones toward his dream of becoming the pitmaster of his very own BBQ restaurant, which he, with Lisa beside him, achieved March 3, 2018.
Jeff’s already notable reputation quickly grew within the Manitoba barbeque community, whether through competitions, learning skills of the trade, or cheering on his fellow “brothers in smoke”.
When Jeff and Lisa opened up Triple J’s in the town of St. Malo, their hard work finally had paid off. Recently they had even expanded to include an ice cream shop, and Fire and Ice was born! Lisa, with family and friends surrounding her will carry on his legacy.
Jeff made an imprint on everyone he met. He quickly became a beloved community member of St. Malo and will be truly missed.
Jeff ran Triple J’s by four words. BBQ, dedication, passion, and integrity, and these too are the words by which he lived his life.
A private family viewing prior to cremation will be held immediately, and a public service will be held at a later date when all who wish to celebrate him may attend.
