Robert “Joey” Dreger, aged 75 years, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 21, 2021 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB., with his family by his side.
He is survived by his ex-wife Shirley, who he was married to for over 30 years, they remained close throughout his life. Together they had two daughters: Shelley Dreger and Stacey Rowe (Troy Rowe). He had three grandchildren: Mackenzie Dreger, Bailey Rowe and Brennin Rowe. He also leaves behind his brother Glen Dreger and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was predeceased by his parents John and Myrtle Dreger and his brother Dale Dreger.
Dad had many jobs throughout his life, most of which was spent building boats and working construction building homes. He enjoyed yard work and made a beautiful yard along with his wife Shirley. It was often described by many as “park like”.
Dad liked travelling especially to hot destinations like Mexico, he often talked about his trips. He enjoyed watching T.V. especially the History Channel. Dad could talk for days about what he watched. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, lending a hand when needed or just enjoying a cup of tea and a good visit.
Dad was described by many as a kind, patient man. He would often say he was going home to watch the grass grow. In his later years, you could find Dad sitting in his lawn chair doing just that. He will forever be in our hearts.
At his request no service will be held.
Special thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care.
