Obituary

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Denis Adrian Marie-Joseph Gerardy, aged 79 years, passed away after a courageous 16-year battle with cancer.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 48 years Irene and four children: David (Connie), Denise (Raymond), Dean (Rachel), and Diane (Ken), as well as eight grandchildren: Derrick, Joel (Brittany), Robert, Keira, Darian (Julia), Celestine (Acey), Brendan, and Emma. Dad is survived by one brother (Jules), and three sisters (Angeline, Cecile, and Bernadette), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father Julien and his mother Celestine, as well as four brothers and five sisters.

The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba at HSC in Winnipeg, Drs. Reimer, Toews, Krahn, and the staff at CancerCare in Steinbach, and the palliative care staff who came to help Dad at home. A special thanks to the medicine ward at Bethesda for their care and assistance in Dad’s final days. We will always be grateful.

Thanks to all those who visited Denis in the hospital and at home. He really enjoyed these visits. The family would also like to thank Tante Cec for everything she has done for Dad and Mom. You are our angel.

Dad’s wishes were that there be no funeral. Cremation has taken place with arrangements entrusted to Birchwood Funeral Chapel.

Dad always loved the sights, sounds, and smells of spring, so in concert with his wishes a private interment will take place at that time. A celebration of life memorial will also take place in the spring as well.
