Obituary

Surrounded by the love and comfort of her family, Linda Berkvens-Gagnon, of Ste. Anne, Manitoba, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, faced with quiet strength and grace at the age of 59.

Linda was the cherished and devoted wife of Vance Gagnon, and a loving mother to Billy Watson and Brianne Watson, Derek Cross, and Jared Decoteau and an adoring grandmother to Cheyenne Cross. Linda was the beloved daughter of Helma and the late Harry Berkvens (2009), and adored daughter-in-law to Louis and the late Lynda Gagnon (2022) and predeceased by her sister-in-law, Michelle Marriott (2015). Treasured sister to Rob (Julie) Berkvens, Don (Dee) Berkvens, Lisa Genyn, and Jim (Alanna) Berkvens.

Linda’s love extended to her nieces and nephews Luke, Emma, Beau, Hannah, Brady, Jinjer (Levi), Grace, Bryer, Brody, Megan and Kyle, and great-nephew Beau whose lives she followed with genuine interest and heartfelt pride.

Linda was deeply loved by the Gagnon family. Her presence brought warmth, laughter, and joy into their lives, memories that will forever be cherished.

Born and raised in Port Lambton, Ontario, Linda had a deep passion for travel and camping and found joy and peace in nature. During apple season, Linda could often be found helping on the family orchard, which brought her happiness and a deep sense of connection to her roots.

As a proud and loyal Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan, Linda never missed an opportunity to support and cheer on her team.

Linda’s kindness, resiliency, and love for life’s simple moments has left a lasting mark on all who knew her. Linda will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her generous heart, unwavering strength, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Among those who loved her was her faithful dog, Rocky. More than just a pet, Rocky was Linda’s loyal companion and constant presence.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at a later date.
