With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Marie-Paule Fiola. Mom passed away peacefully at Ste Anne’s hospital on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
Of her three sons, she leaves to mourn two sons: Daniel (Suzanne) and Paul (Jeannette) a daughter-in-law Amy (Dominic). Also, six grandchildren; Joel (Francine), Janelle (Matt), Jordi (Bianka), Jaide, Sage and Ciel and seven great-grandchildren; Jaxson, Jayden, Joli Ann, Dominic, Élöise, Félix and Louie. She also leaves behind brothers and sisters; Gisèle, Francois (Lucille), Isabelle, Lynne (Jean), Adèle (Peter), Clémence, Julien and Gilles (Marie-Paule) and one sister-in-law Elfrieda as well as many nephews and nieces.
Marie-Paule is predeceased by her father Joseph Fiola, her mother Madeleine nee Ledet, brother Aimé and sister-in-law Simone all in 1975, a brother-in-law Guy LeGal (Gisele) in 2006, her youngest son Dominic in 2008 and another brother Herve in 2020.
Marie-Paule was born May 14, 1940, in St Boniface. She was the oldest of the family. She was raised first on a farm in Rosewood, Manitoba. Then the Fiola family settled on a farm in Ste Geneviève, Manitoba. She completed her secondary school at the convent in Lorette. After school she moved to Winnipeg to work as a clerical administration.
Soon after, she met her husband Ferdinand Lansard at a baseball tournament. They married in early 1959 and moved to a farm on Dawson Road, next they moved to the town of Ste Anne and together, they had three sons in all.
Mom enjoyed working for various public positions such as Ste. Anne Hospital, Steinbach Works, City of Winnipeg, Winnipeg Transit and then retired. She then moved to Alberta to be closer to her grandkids. She continued to work at Home Care positions in Edmonton and Good Samaritan Society in Calgary. In 2011, she decided to return to Manitoba.
Mom also enjoyed volunteering for the Ste. Anne Ambulance and being merited a medal for her devotion to the Boys Scouts while following Dominic to many jamborees. She also enjoyed activities by following her boy’s hockey and motorcross. Her many passions included curling, macramé, oil painting and round dancing to a high degree.
She will be dearly missed for all she has done for us; her faith and character encouraged us to always be our best.
Funeral mass to celebrate Marie-Paule’s life will be held on June 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Ste. Anne Roman Catholic Parish, Ste. Anne, Manitoba. Following the celebration, a small reception will take place at Club Jovial across the street. The burial of the ashes will proceed at Ste. Geneviève Cemetery.
