Obituary

Edward William Peterson was born on March 25, 1945, in Calgary, AB. He passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, at his home in Salmon Arm, BC.

Ed grew up on a farm near Rockglen, SK., along with his sister Doreen and his brother Wayne. He rode horseback to school until his family moved to Moose Jaw after their father died. Ed worked several jobs until settling on working in the farm equipment industry. He met and married Wendy Beauchemin in 1966 in Saskatoon. Soon after they moved to Winnipeg, MB where Ed worked as a service rep for New Holland. They welcomed their 3 children into their lives while in Winnipeg and were led to the Lord in 1971 through Lorne Everett and the Windsor Park Evangelical Free Church. In 1976 the family moved to Steinbach, MB where Ed eventually bought into Southeastern Farm Equipment and managed the company until his retirement in 2015.

Ed enjoyed ministering to the young men in his church (Emmanuel Evangelical Free) through Christian Brigade, Alpha Teens, fishing trips, ball games, or any other activity that he could use to connect with people. He also enjoyed many short-term overseas missions that involved building or farming.

While Ed and Wendy had many plans to travel extensively after his retirement, God had other plans. Ed started his journey through cancer in 2015, and he found a new ministry in witnessing to the many health care workers he encountered.

After Wendy’s death in 2018, Ed met Marilyn Dyck and they married in December 2019. Ed relocated to Salmon Arm, BC and enjoyed the mild winters, beautiful mountains, and the new family and friends made there.

Ed is predeceased by his adoptive father, Al Peterson; his mother, Evelyn Dupuis; his wife of 51 years, Wendy Beauchemin-Peterson; his uncle, Bill Honeysett; and his brother Wayne Peterson.

Ed is survived by his second wife, Marilyn; his sister, Doreen; his children, Chad (Marcia), Melanie (Roger), and Cory (Lisa); his grandchildren Erin (Stef), Daniel (Skye), Sarah, Olivia, Million, Yohannes, Andrew (Felicity), Micah, Asher, Elliana, Brayden, Brandon, Dakota, Alisha; great grandson Zayden; his step-children, Jeff (Jessica), and Janine; and step-grandchildren.

A celebration of life was held in Salmon Arm, B.C., on June 14th, 2025, and a memorial service will be held in Steinbach, MB., at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church on June 23, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
