Obituary

With heavy hearts, we share that Tetiana Rudei (born January 21, 1986) and her beloved daughter Veronika Rudei (born May 6, 2014) died in a car accident near their home on June 27, 2025. They were cherished by their community, and their loss leaves a profound void.

Tetiana, born in Tepenytsya, Zhytomyr Oblast, Ukraine, to Dmytro and Lubow Lepey, earned degrees in economics, management, and accounting from Kherson Cooperative Economic Legal College. An accountant in Ukraine, she dreamed of continuing her career in Canada. She married Roman Rudei on July 3, 2010, and they raised 3 children with love. Tetiana and Roman hoped to buy a home in Canada.

Veronika, born in Skadovsk, Kherson Region, Ukraine, was a joyful girl who loved her Ukrainian dance group in Vita and judo in Steinbach. She was a fan of K-pop and she dreamed of one day visiting Korea.

Forced to flee Ukraine in August 2022 due to the Russian occupation, the family lived in Poland for a year before settling in Canada in August 2023. The Rudei family was a bright hope, an icon of resilience in their new community. This dream is shattered but not forgotten.

Tetiana is survived by her parents, Dmytro and Lubow Lepey; sister, Yira; husband, Roman Rudei; children, Artur and Anzhelika Rudei; mother-in-law, Vera Rudei; and brothers-in-law, Maxym, Andre, and Artem. She was predeceased by her father-in-law, Michael Rudei, and brother-in-law, Ruslan.

Veronika is survived by her father, Roman Rudei; brother, Artur Rudei; sister, Anzhelika Rudei; grandmother, Vera Rudei; and uncles, Maxym, Andre, and Artem. She was predeceased by her uncle, Ruslan, and grandfather, Michael Rudei.

The livestreamed funeral service for Tetiana and Veronika Rudei will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with interment to follow at St. Labre Roman Catholic Cemetery.
