It is with deep love and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the peaceful passing of Lorraine Bérard at the age of 92, at the Villa Youville in Ste-Anne, Manitoba.
She is survived by her children, Aimé (Lucille), Roger (Doris), René, Jeanne, Lynne and Lionel; five grandchildren: Daniel (Jaimee), Stéphane (Berlyn), Anita (Duy), Patrick and Jasmine; nine great grand children: Jaid, Léo, Devin; Robyn, Selanne, Roxanne; Maève, Matysse; Mercedes and one great great grandchild, Claire.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Cécile Roy of Ottawa and numerous nephews and nieces.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Gérard (1979), her grandson Gérard (1998), her parents Odila (Lacroix) and Henri Hébert, sisters Cora and Raymonde, brothers Paul, Léo, Bernard (Marie-Ange), Benoît and Gilbert, as well as her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in the Bérard family.
A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who devoted her entire life to the well-being of her family. Peace and harmony were of great value to her. She always welcomed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, neighbours and friends with open arms. She was an excellent cook, her meals were delicious from soups, dishes, pies, doughnuts, matrimonial cake and her famous “sucre à la crème”.
Lorraine raised her family and after the sudden passing of her husband at a young age, she worked for Homecare for 16 years. She was a very caring, patient and compassionate worker.
Lorraine loved gardening and she took great pride in looking after her yard, tending and nurturing all the trees she took part in planting with her family.
She had an impeccable ability to tell us about her daily activities, events and life stories with so many details. You felt as if you were there witnessing the events for yourself. She had an excellent memory and she had a sharp mind till the end.
Funeral mass will be held at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, July 17 at 2:00 p.m. with rosary, eulogy and PowerPoint presentation beginning at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at the St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.
The family wishes to express its sincere thanks and gratitude to the dedicated staff at Villa Youville for their exceptional care and compassion.
We would also like to thank Gérald Fournier (Spiritual care coordinator) and Jill Plett (Care nurse) for their comforting care and support.
Thank you to Corey Wall of the Morris Funeral Home for his excellent service and kindness.
Lorraine, Mom, mémère, you will be dearly missed.
Maman, tu seras toujours avec nous. On t’aime!
Repose en paix!
