Obituary
Willy (Bill) Friesen, age 83, of Rosa, MB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the De Salaberry District Health Centre, St. Pierre Joly, MB, with his family by his side. He was baptized on May 4, 1969, at Westminster United Church in Winnipeg, MB, a quiet but meaningful milestone in his life of faith.
Bill married the love of his life, Nettie (Friesen), on June 20, 1970, beginning a 55-year journey marked by unwavering commitment and loyalty. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Doreen (Kevin) and Douglas (Sherry), building a home rooted in love and faith. One of his greatest joys was becoming a grandfather to three cherished granddaughters: Emily, Alissa, and Caitlyn. His home was always a welcoming place, filled with laughter, heartfelt conversation, and the comfort of shared meals around the table.
Bill worked a dedicated 52 years with Qualico, where he was respected for his dedication, integrity, and tireless work ethic. Away from work, he found joy in farming, a lifelong passion that not only fulfilled him but also instilled a deep sense of pride. Among his greatest joys were travelling to new destinations and enjoying the company of family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie; daughter, Doreen (Kevin); son, Doug (Sherry); and his granddaughters, Emily, Alissa, and Caitlyn; brother Raymond (Connie), sister Shirl (Greg), and sister-in-law Marge.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents, Abram, Nettie, and Justina Friesen, along with his dear brothers, Jake (Annelore) and Leroy, whose memories he carried with him always.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, and by all those whose lives he touched.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and doctors at both the Menno Home and the De Salaberry District Health Centre for their attentive care, kindness, and support.
