Peter U. Friesen, aged 74 years, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and soon-to-be great-grandfather, drove his last earthly miles on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Giesbrecht) of 53 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children and their families, Karen (Mauricio), Mauricio Jr. (Cassandra), Kalvin (Rochelle), Joyce (Nelson), Coen and Callum, Wayne (Bobi-Jo), Julia (Zach), Kyara (Dawson), Mason (Tristin), Devon, Danny.
Peter (more affectionately known by his nieces and nephews as (“Papa Pete”) spent his life giving to others. In his early years of trucking, he spent his time hauling for Granny’s Poultry. Then, to be closer to home and his growing family, he spent a few years driving for Shell fuels. Most of his years on the road though, were devoted to Penner International, where he spent his last 50 years, driving either solo or as a team. The last 28 of those with his loving and supportive wife until his transmission gave up.
Thank you, to the many doctors, nurses and medical teams for doing all you could. A special thanks to the AMAZING family, neighbours, and friends for their loving support and compassion in the last few years.
Rest in Peace dad. You can finally pull off the road. We’ll see you at the next stop.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will take place at a later date.
