Obituary

Peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, Margaret Dyck passed away at Bethesda Regional Health Centre at the age of 93.

Margaret was predeceased by her first husband, Peter Fast; her second husband, Frank Falk; her son, John Falk; and her brothers Jake, Nick, John, Bill, and Henry Patkau.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shirley Falk; her daughter-in-law, Irene Falk, Grandchildren; Nikki (Ian) Krahn, Matt (Sabrina) Falk, & Dylan Falk; as well as her six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Goertzen, along with numerous extended family members and dear friends.

Margaret was born in Grassy Lake, Alberta, where she lived until the age of nine before moving in 1941 to a farm near McCreary, Manitoba. Life on the farm taught her the value of hard work – something she carried with her throughout her life. Friends and family often gathered at the farm, where music filled the home as someone would play the organ and everyone sang along.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. As a young girl, she attended Canadian Sunday School Mission for several summers and once earned a free year of attendance by memorizing 200 Bible verses. Throughout her life, she worked at Bible camps, held many jobs, and later dedicated 13 years to Home Care, serving others with compassion and humility.

Margaret married Peter Fast in 1956, and together they welcomed their son, John, in 1957. Peter passed away from leukemia at the age of 26. A couple years later, Margaret married Frank Falk, and they shared 24 years of marriage and welcomed their daughter, Shirley. Frank passed away in 1984 from lung cancer.

Margaret loved knitting, gardening, cooking, canning, and spending countless hours in her garden. She especially treasured time spent traveling and visiting with family and friends.

Above all, Margaret was a woman of deep faith. She prayed faithfully for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, holding them close in her heart every day.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her strength, kindness, and unwavering love.
