Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marlene Green, on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in the morning at Vita Hospital, Vita, MB.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept my faith. ~ 2 Timothy 4:7. Just over three months of cancer. The Lord saw how tired she was, and He called her home.

Marlene is survived by her loving husband, Mike Green, four sons, Steven & Dawn, Daniel & Sarah, Kenneth & Christine, Paul & Kelsey, and nine grandchildren. Mike and Marlene celebrated 38 years of marriage.

She also leaves behind her parents Peter & Mary Hiebert, and her siblings Leonard & Adina, Anita, Ervin & Roberta, Irene & Terry, Ron & Pearl, Diane & Tom, Dennis & Marge, lots of nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is predeceased by one brother Raymond (Oct. 12, 2025). Now they can be together again. P.T.L.

Marlene was born on August 1, 1966, in the Bethesda Hospital, Steinbach, MB. As she grew up, she attended Sunday School, and youth she also went on youth camp outings. Maybe a few, once to Fisher Branch, also to Saskatchewan Youth Alive. She enjoyed it. When she was about 8-13 years old, she attended Girls Club. This is where she learned to crochet, which she enjoyed the rest of her life, until her energy started failing her.

As the oldest of eight children, she at a young age learned to take care of her siblings. She might have been small for her age, but she knew how to get her brothers attention – she learned how to pinch.

Marlene got baptised in 1984, and attended E.M.B.

As she grew older, she found the partner of her life, and together they had four boys. Once the boys started leaving home, Marlene needed something to keep her busy. She would do lots of crocheting. Once all the children were married and left home, Mike & Marlene purchased a property in the town of Vita. This was her joy. She now could work together with her husband. This is where she got involved with selling “yarn”, for knitting and crocheting until she got sick. Mike, being so gifted with his skills, took over for her.

Marlene will be remembered for her personality; she liked to talk.

Marlene was hospitalized for at least six weeks, and then once diagnosed with her sickness, she went home for one month and spent her final two days in Vita Hospital.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.

The family would like to thank all the people who came to care for Marlene, caregivers, nurses and friends. For all the meals that were brought and shared.

Rest in Peace Marlene.
