We are heartbroken to announce the passing of a great lady, our mom, Denise Gabbs (nee Faucher) on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 98, while surrounded by her family.
Mom will be deeply missed by her children: Gerald Gabbs, Raymond Gabbs, Anita (Karl) Stronciski, Patricia Vass, and Martin (Claudette) Gabbs; her grandchildren: Jeffrey Baril, Micheal Stronciski (Julie Bordeaux), Tamara Stuski (Regis Leblanc), Crystal Painter, and Joey Stronciski; and her great grandchildren: Travis, Andrew, and Kevin Stuski; Jadyn, Breanna, Emilie, and Johnathan Stronciski; and Abegayle, Declan, Quinn, and Callen Painter.
Denise is also survived by her siblings: Edgar (Minni) Faucher, Adelard (Diane) Faucher, Rolande (Clarence) Levasseur, Claudette (Don) Cates, Yvette (Ken) Baskerville, and Paulette Faucher, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Denise was predeceased by her parents, Joe & Clara Faucher; her husband Arthur Gabbs; granddaughter Cynthia Stronciski; her sisters Rita, Annette, and Irene; her brother Fernand; and son-in-law Alan Vass.
Denise lived a full life raising a family of five. There was always a pot of coffee on for energy, or if anyone just popped by. Mom loved cooking, baking, and reading. She also loved to sew, crochet, and tatting, and she cherished her flowers and her garden. Mom loved to dance and was part of the clogging and square dancing groups. She loved painting whether it was creating a picture or painting walls. Mom loved doing puzzles, playing board games, cards, and Rummikub. If you wanted to learn any of these, she was always ready to show you how. For many years, she was also an active member of the St. Anne Legion, where she held various positions.
We would like to thank her family and siblings for their loving care and visits over the last few years when she could no longer leave her home. We would also like to thank the St. Anne Homecare team who supported her before her admission to St. Anne Hospital.
We extend our sincere thanks to Doctor Patrick Fredette, and Doctor Paquin, as well as the amazing, outgoing, and compassionate nursing staff at St. Anne Hospital. Our appreciation also goes to the housekeeping and kitchen staff who helped make her nine months stay wonderful.
The celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
As per mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and the ash internment will be held at a later date at Richer Roman Catholic Cemetery, Richer, MB.
