It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond Clifford Krentz, age 78, of Steinbach, MB. Raymond passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB.
Raymond was born August 31, 1947, to Emil and Mary Krentz and grew up on the family farm south of Steinbach. Raymond loved music, a car with a rumble and power under the hood. He was a self-taught musician, and as a young man played guitar in a band, bringing his enjoyment of music to others. That love of music continued through the years, often sitting around the living room with family and friends playing music. A couple of weeks before his passing he was able to play the harmonica while his sister Arleen played guitar. What joy that brought him!
Raymond attended Red River College earning his certificate as a Journeyman Carpenter and he worked in construction until his retirement. He was a meticulous carpenter and took great pride in his work and a job well done. Raymond married Phyllis Harder February 26, 1966, and together they shared 54 years of marriage until Phyllis’s passing in January 2021. They were blessed with three children, Myron, Sheri and Barb. Raymond and Phyllis enjoyed traveling and visited many warm destinations during the cold winter months. Summers were spent at Royal Lake Resort camping, boating and fishing. In 1995 Raymond and Phyllis relocated to Thompson for several years and continued working, traveling and enjoying spending time camping, boating, and fishing at Paint Lake. On retiring, Raymond and Phyllis moved back to Steinbach and settled into retirement on a couple of acres in Friedensfeld. Summers were spent outdoors lovingly tending to their big yard and garden. They found great enjoyment harvesting all their produce, canning, preserving, and sharing with family, friends and neighbours. Winters were spent in the kitchen and Ray perfected baking bread. There was always fresh bread or cinnamon buns ready for pick up or delivery!
After Phyllis’s passing, Ray found happiness again when he married Anne Reimer, and he was welcomed into her loving family of three children, Pam (Art), Steph (Dan), Dallas (Laura), grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They spent three years filled with joy, laughter and love until Anne’s passing May 16, 2025. Although his health started declining, Raymond faced each day with joy, humour and appreciation for all he had and was given. His kindness and gratefulness was shown to all who walked through his door. We as his children are forever grateful for his love, his kind heart and the values he instilled in us. We will miss you! Rest in peace Dad!
Raymond is survived by his three children, Myron and Carol Krentz, Sheri Warwick, and Barb and Craig Sylvester; grandchildren Wayne, Dylan, Avery and Polly; Melissa (Jeff), Alicia, Ari (Roman), and Jon (Ola); Kaitlin (Rob) and Samantha; great grandchildren; Mabel, Emily, Ellie, Jocelyn, Aurora, Charlie; great-great-grandchildren Zeke and Xavier; his three sisters, Judy ( Harvey) Fiebelkorn, Arleen (Peter) Doerksen and Dorothy (Clifford) Freund. Raymond is also survived by Anne’s children who so lovingly continued to care, Pam (Art), Stef (Dan), Dallas (Laura), as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
