Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Debbie Marie Penner (née Berg), of Marchand, MB., on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the age of 70 years at the Rest Haven Personal Care Home. After a lengthy illness that stole her voice and her memory, she is now free from pain and rejoicing with her Savior in glory.

Mom was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a huge void in the heart of her husband of 51 years, Ken; daughter Nicole Valenta (husband Michal; children Luca & Noabella), daughter Chantelle Falk (husband Jason; children Payton, Adlai, Rhéanna, Aliyah, & Arileigh), son Chad Penner (wife Katie; daughter Annabelle & husband Ollie); sister Terry (Harvey) Speers, and by Ken’s family; Eva Penner, Hilda (Gary) Richardson, Lois (Gerry) Dorn, Joyce (Peter) Schroeder, George (AnnMarie) Penner, many nieces and nephews, and other dear family and friends.

Awaiting her in heaven was mom’s mother and father, Cornelius & Anna Berg, her mother and father-in-law, Peter & Lydia Penner, and her brothers-in-law, Herman Penner and Marc Penner, as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.

Your body was ready, but our hearts were not.

A celebration of mom’s life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with burial at the Pine Tree Cemetery in Marchand following the reception.
