Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty Lynn Bauming (née McGregor) on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at Morris General Hospital, at the age of 77.

She is predeceased by her husband, Don Bauming; her parents, Doug and Marion McGregor; and her brother, Terry McGregor.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Cindy (Rob); her children, Dale (Sonia), Raymond, Sherry (Tim), and Leah (Ray); her grandchildren, Dustin, Cole, Allexia, Grant, Brayden, and Mel; as well as her many great-grandchildren.

Betty was a hardworking woman with many talents. She was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crochet. Her living room was often filled with jackets waiting for new zippers, pants needing a hem, and half-finished sweaters that she lovingly prepared as Christmas gifts.

After settling in Lorette, MB, in 1979, she and Don ran the Twin Lantern Restaurant, home of the Twin Lantern Special burger and the best pizza in town. It was here that Betty affectionately earned the nickname “The Lorette Gazette,” as she seemed to know everyone and everything happening in town. She had many friends and was well known in the community.

Over the years, Betty had various jobs but especially enjoyed working at Emerald Cabinets and at Cangene Corporation.

Don and Betty eventually retired and moved to their riverside cabin in St. Malo, where they both enjoyed the wildlife and spending time working in the yard. Later, when the cabin became too much to manage, they moved to St. Pierre Jolys.

After Don’s passing in 2014, Betty bought a trailer in Texas and spent several years travelling south with her cousin Rick and visiting with her many snowbird friends. At home, she enjoyed knitting and sewing and was always willing to help others. She also loved gardening and going to the thrift shop with her good friend Bernice.

Betty will be deeply missed and remembered for her strength, generosity, and love for her family and friends.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Fraser, and the dedicated nurses and support staff who cared for Mom during her stay at Morris General Hospital.

A celebration of her life will be held by the family at a future date.
