Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the death of James (Jim) Remie Brandt, at his residence on Monday, February 2, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, Helen (Elders) 2007 and Remie 2024.

He is survived by his siblings: Janice (Guy) Chammartin, Russell (Deborah) Brandt and Audrey (Dwayne) Delipper and their families, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim was born December 11, 1954, in Kenora, Ontario. He grew up in Ross, Manitoba. He attended school in Ross and later in Ste. Anne.

Jim was a strong and hard worker all his life. He had a real knack with animals and a special love for horses. He worked for many years with/for the Manitoba Farm Labor Pool, working mostly on dairy farms and horse farms.

After settling in Winnipeg, he worked as temporary laborer at many different and interesting jobs; loading and unloading trucks, helping set-up and take down at fairs and attractions, like the Red River Ex. His longest lasting work had been with Russell Steel and Manufacturing.

Jim found a real community of friends at the Northern Hotel. We’d like to thank Keith and his staff there, for their care and kindness to Jim. Thanks also to Siloam Mission for their support and help to him these last few years.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
